Code Requirements for Test and Assemblies

Fire Partitions

Fire partitions are handled the same way as testing is concerned. Intumescent Coatings must pass a ASTM E -119 scale test to be able to be used in a fire partitions. Coatings are really put to the test to meet this requirement. A IIntumscent product must be top notch to be able to pass the test. The industry has been trying to confuse officials due to their lack of testing. As with any coatings, always ask for the test upfront and if they cant give you a test with a Intumescent product that has passed. Then chances are, there coatings will not make the requirements.
